Second edition; first published in 1701. A collection of devotional writings from three major Church Fathers, translated by George Stanhope, the Dean of Canterbury, and one of the most popular preachers of his day. With a frontispiece and three plates, engraved by Gribelin after designs by Champaigne. Contemporary signature on the title-page of Ann Egerton, presumably Anne Egerton, nŽe Wolferstan, granddaughter of the 18th-century book collector Frances Wolferstan, whose library was dispersed at Sobethy's in 1856.
