Bentley, Richard: attack on An humble and serious representation London  1716

[Bentley, Richard: attack on.] An humble and serious representation of the present state of Trinity-College in Cambridge. In a letter to a noble Lord. London: printed for Bernard Lintot, n.d. (1716). 28 pp. + four pages of bookseller's advertisements. 8vo, disbound. First edition. An appeal to higher authorities, possibly the king himself, for help in the struggle of the fellows of Trinity College against the mastership of Richard Bentley. The anonymous writer gives a summary of Bentley's failures and crimes, over a period of more than fifteen years; the catalogue has an air of desperation, as all efforts to have Bentley removed had failed. A nice copy of a scarce pamphlet. Bartholomew and Clark 220.
