(London), 1832. xv(1), 441 pp. 8vo, original purple cloth, brown morocco label (spine evenly faded). Third edition, revised and enlarged; first published in 1830, with a second edition in 1832. The first of two philsophical works by a Scottish physician, both of which proved extremely popular; this one reached a 21st edition by 1882. A brief prefatory note reads as follows: "To this third edition, various new facts have been added: the most important of them are two remarkable cases of somnambulism at pages 296 and 300." In fine condition; contemporary bookplate of W. B. Clark. Jessup, p. 81.
