Bentivoglio, Guido, Cardinal Raccolta di lettere Cambridge  1727

Bentivoglio, Guido, Cardinal. (14)201(1), (2)130 pp. Sm. 8vo, contemporary speckled calf (upper joint slightly cracked). First edition thus; edited, with notes, and a dedication to Lord Townshend, by Alexander Inglis. The early 17th-century diplomatic letters of Cardinal Bentivoglio were commonly used as a school text, both in Italy and in teaching Italian abroad. Wanting a flyleaf at the front, otherwise a very good copy. Early signature on the title-page of Wriothesly Digby, with his armorial bookplate on the pastedown opposite. Scarce; the ESTC (on-line, 10/02) lists two copies only in North America (ICN, KU-S), along with several others elsewhere.
