Bagweell Papers Occasional paper. Numb. X. London  1716

[Bagweell Papers.] The occasional paper. Numb. X. An expedient for peace among all Protestants. In a second letter to the author of this paper. By the same hand that writ the letter publish'd in Number IV. London: printed for J. Harrison, and A. Dodd, 1716. 28 pp. 8vo, disbound. First edition. An original printing of one of the "Bagweell Papers," so called from the first initials of the last names of the eight contributors, Simon Browne, Benjamin Avery, Benjamin Grosvenor, Samuel Wright, John Evans, Jabez Earle, Nathaniel Lardner, and Moses Lowman. These pamphlets appeared at monthly intervals over the course of three years, and were an important expression of political and theological liberalism. Some numbers were bound up with general title-pages, but the texts are rare in any form, and complete sets appear not to survive; of this pamphlet the ESTC (on-line, 07/01) lists two copies only (Lmh; NPV). A fine copy. Crane and Kaye 642; CBEL II, 1276.
