Bacon, Francis: trial Collection of the proceedings in the House of Commons London 1721
[Bacon, Francis.] A collection of the proceedings in the House of Commons against the Lord Verulam, Viscount St. Albans, Lord Chancellor of England, for corruption and bribery: with the several debates and speeches in the House thereupon, by Sir Edward Coke, Mr. Recorder Finch, Sir Robert Philips, &c. Together with the judgment given by the Lords against the said Lord Chancellor, A. D. 1620. London: printed for A. More, n.d. (1721). 32 pp. 8vo, disbound. First octavo edition. These Parliamentary proceedings against Francis Bacon, including his submission and supplication to the House of Lords, were originally published as a 12-page folio in 1701 (rare). The present more accessible sixpenny format proved more popular, and there were two further printings later in 1721 ("second" and "third" editions); a very rare undated provincial edition appeared as well in Chester, probably at about the same time. In excellent condition, and uncommon. Gibson 549b.
