It first appeared in 1745 and went through several editions as well as being translated into German and English. ÔThe de Combles family cam from Lyons, though this anonymous member of it had a garden not far from Paris...His little book on peach trees... was the earliest in France devoted exclusively to this fruit. As well as advice on choosing, planting, pruning, and cultivating peach trees, there is a chapter on moving them, filled with the fruits of experienceÕ (Sandra Raphael, An Oak Spring Pomona n. 88).
