First edition of this rare treatise on milk, whey, and butter. The first part deals with the essence of milk, the production of milk by the breasts, and the different qualities of milk. Human and various animal milks are examined and their uses detailed. There is also a discussion of the lactation of virgins. The second section deals with whey, and t he final section is devoted to butter, including various preparations such as 'butter of antimony' and other chemical preparations.
The author was a physician and philosopher; little is known about him. He wrote a book on human sweat, and also a compilation of marvels and wonders, the Hortulus genialis (Bologna, 1617).
