Bronn (1800-1862) was a pioneer in evolutionary palaeontology and one of the developers of the stratigraphic study of fossil remains. ÔBronn argued that the gaps then acknowledged in the palaeontological and stratigraphic succession were illusory and would be bridged by the future discovery of transitional species and intermediate formationsÕ (DSB). At Charles DarwinÕs suggestion, Bronn was responsible for having the Origin of species translated into German. Nissen ZBI 594; NUC: DI-GS PPULC DNLM NBuU NNM CSt NN MiU
