(approx 37 x 27 cms). pp. [iv] 186 + 68 colour-printed maps including statistical maps showing population, railways and canals, and a map showing the transatlantic telegraph cables laid in the 1860s. Some spotting at intervals throughout. Contemporary half calf with fully gilt spine, slight wear to the extremities but very presentable, with a morocco book label of E. Carter dated 1875 on the front pastedown, and a more recent bookplate above.
