Taylor, as well as poems entitled Bacteria, bacillus, etc., Light of evolution, and Advice to graduates in medicine. Clarke was an 1862 graduate of the Harvard medical school, served as a surgeon during the Civil war, and later specialized in obstetrics and gynecology in the Boston area.
