First edition of both works, usually found together. The revolutionary treatise by Gallacini written about 1621 and directed against what he conceived to be the excesses of contemporary architects such as Borromini, Maderna and others, remained unpublished for more than a century and a half. The illustrations of Baroque architectural details and Gallacini’s proposed modifications are engraved by Visentini whose commentary, which extends and develops Galacini’s work, was published four years later.
