Third and last Italian edition (1st: 1543) of the main source of veterinary knowledge until the end of the 16th century, used considerably by later writers on the subject. The farrier Lorenzo Rusio worked for many years in Rome for Cardinal Orsini († 1342) and the treatise is based on his own experience and on earlier writings, especially the one by Giordano Ruffo, with whom he is sometimes confused (cf.
