Engr. half-title with allegorical figures and the arms of the Duke Ferdiand Maria of Bavaria, a splendid portrait of the Duke, and 90 etched plates of varying size on 64 sheets showing exercises with pikestaff and muskets, and barrack-yard exercises for small batallions, and their correct offensive or defensive formations, drawn and engraved by some of the foremost Bolognese illustrators of the period. (2), 166, (6) pp.; an exceptionally fine, crisp copy bound in modern long grain dark red morocco, richly gilt, and preserved in a slip case.
A superb military work illustrated with attractive and lively plates, also of considerable interest for their costumes.
