Third edition of Baldinucci’s scholarly survey of Italian artist, beginning with Cimabue (first edition: 1681-1728). All our bibliographies (Cicognara, Schlosser, UCBA, Arntzen, Brunet) quote this enlarged edition as being complete in five volumes (1768-1817), except Gamba who correctly mentions six. Due to the long time employed for publication, complete copies are quite scarce: vol. II was printed in 1770, but the other four were only published between 1813 and 1820 (which also explains the different bindings in this set).
