The book was started in 1984 and was not published until 1987. This elaborate edition is one of the most beautiful of the press and, in my opinion, the most beautiful edition this publication of two earlier collections of short stories by this 20th century master. The images match the author's imagination. Of particular note are the engravings for "El Acercamiento a Almotasim" and "Las Ruinas Circulares," but all the art is particularly well done and particularly evocative of Borges' text.
