Venice, Pinelli, 1645. 4to;device on title-page, a fine engraved plate illustrates the beaker and large engraved arms in the text. Contemporary limp vellum, gilt with central cartouche surrounded by flowers and birds. Written on the upper cover in a nice contemporary hand - 'Libro stampato da conservarsi come la Gemma'. An attractive copy with a little occasional foxing. Only edition of this collection of anagrams accompanied by Latin verses; the large majority treat of a crystal vase in the shape of a bunch of grapes to be found in St Mark's Treasure. Not in B.M.STC.; NUC lists a copy at Folger only; Cicognara 5045.
