MELANCHTON Philip Epigrammatum libri sex.
Wittenberg, heirs of J. Crato, 1579 8vo: circular portrait of Melanchton on titlepage. Contemporary blind-stamped pigskin, worn nearly smooth but absolutely sound. Small hole in title-leaf. This edition was prepared by Petrus Vincentius professor at Wittenberg and had first appeared in 1563, also from Crato's publishing firm. The editor's long dedicatory letter, reprinted here, relates how he was able to add a further three books to the three which had already been published.
