Karlsruhe, Michael Macklot, 1769 8vo: 18 woodcut illustrations. Modern blue boards; carelessly folded so that many edges are untrimmed while some running heads are shaved. First edition of this instruction book for carving meat, poultry and game; it was reprinted in 1774 and 1797. The woodcuts illustrate each animal with numbered points showing where to make successive cuts. The same illustrations, according to Vicaire, had been used in l'Ecole parfaite des officiers de Bouche, Paris 1680. (Thanks to Ben Kinmont). Weiss 3994; not in Bitting, Drexel, Georg, Horn-Arndt or Vicaire; NUC has only a single copy (NIC) of the 1774 edition.
