FOLENGO Teofilo. Opus Merlin Cocaii poetae Mantuani Macaronicorum.
Venice, Bevilacqua, 1613 12mo, device on title-page and 27 half-page woodcut illustrations in the text. 19th century morocco. The most famous of all poems written in macaronic verse. This edition reprints the text of the Venice, 1581 edition; the woodcuts are from new blocks which are copied from the 1581 illustrations but differ in details. It has been suggested, by Brunet among others, that it was printed by Zetzner in Strasburg for publication in Venice. It is Zetzner's device which appears on the title-page.
