ONGARO Antonio L'Alceo, favola pescatoria, fatta recitare in Ferrara dall'ill.mo S. Enzo Bentivogli...Con gl'Intermezzi del sig. cavalier Battista Guarini. Descritti e dichiarati dall'Arsiccio Accademico Ricreduto.

Ferrara, V. Baldini, 1614. 4to; elaborate woodcut frame to title-page incorporating the arms of thededicatee, Cardinal Serra. Contemporary limp vellum. An interesting edition of importance in theatrical history. Bentivoglio had planned a performance for late 1612 to include for the first time the intermezzi printed here. The plans were changed and the intermezzi appeared instead in a performance of the tragedy Idalba: Baldini publishes here the projected version. The authorship of the intermezzi has been much discussed; they are probably by Ottaviano Magnani, L'Arsiccio, who provided the detailed descriptions.
