Only edition of this interesting work by a poet and critic in which he gives an historical analysis of every aspect of the sonnet, quoting from a very wide range of authors up to and including his own time. The bio-bibliographies take up over 160 pages and are valuable for those writers now fallen into obscurity. Meninni has added a fascinating chapter on The Errors which occur in the Printing of Books: after the usual complaints of authors against printers he explains the practical difficulties faced by Componitori, Torcolieri, Tiratori and Correttori.
