ART CATALOGUE: SILVESTRE Catalogue raisonné d'objets d'arts du cabinet de feu M. de Silvestre ... par F-L Regnauld-Delande. Paris, Le Blanc for the Author, 1810

8vo: 19th century marbled boards, half calf, spine gilt.

Preceded by a biography of Jacques-Augustin de Silvestre, who had died the previous year. The Silvestre collection had been formed by Israel in the second half of the 17th century and enlarged by his son, grandson and great-grandson who were all drawers and engravers. The collection itself is one of the most extensive accumulations of engravings ever formed. The descriptions are good and there is an excellent index, at the end is an interesting list of the 221 catalogues prepared by Regnauld-Delande from 1785.
