BORN, Max. Probleme der Atomdynamik. Berlin: Julius Springer, 1926

Brown cloth with gilt spine (remainder binding?), viii, 183, [1] pp., with diagrams in the text and a folding table.

A very good copy., The original German version of BornÕs, Problems of Atomic Dynamics, based on two series of lectures delivered at M.I.T.Ñ ÒThe Structure of the AtomÓ (20 Lectures); and ÒThe Lattice Theory of Rigid BodiesÓ (10 Lectures). ÒAt the time I began this course of lectures, Heisenberg's first paper on the new quantum theory had just appeared. Here his masterly treatment gave the quantum theory an entirely new turn ... As the course proceeded, further achievements of the new method came to my notice. I was able to introduce some of them into the lectures. Pauli's theory of thehydrogen atom is a case in point' (Preface). I wrote the original text in German. It was then translated into English by Dr. W P Allis and Mr. Hans Muller, and read through by me. (preface) The original German text appeared after the English translation, the interval allowing for the inclusion of more up to date information.
