Rare, first edition of this work describing the earliest festival exhibiting the European experience in the New World. The work contains the earliest information on Brazil and Brazilian customs originally written in the French language-six years prior to the first issue of Thevet (1557)-and the earliest illustration of Brazilian Indians with any verifiable claim to ethnographic authenticity. One of two complete luxury copies recorded, printed on vellum and illuminated.
