The work contains the earliest information on Brazil and Brazilian customs originally written in the French language-six years prior to the first issue of Thevet (1557)-and the earliest illustration of Brazilian Indians with any verifiable claim to ethnographic authenticity. One of two complete luxury copies recorded, printed on vellum and illuminated.
