Agustín, Antonio. [Trans. Sada, Dionigi Ottaviano.] Dialoghi di Don Antonio Agostini arcivescovo di Tarracona intorno alle medaglie, inscrittioni et altre antichita. Roma: Appresso Guglielmo Faciotto,, 1592

Quarto, 33.3 cm. *6, +6, A - Z4, Aa -Nn4 (Nn2 missigned as N), Oo6, Pp - Rr4 (Rr2 missigned Qq2), Ss4. Italian translation of the original work published in 1587 in Tarragona. The text is presented in the form of a dialogue in which a given aspect of the main subject is discussed by the author with two speakers, a device often used during the Renaissance to expound upon a given subject. There is ample rambling about the meaning of inscriptions, official titles, imperial dates, ancient geography, and every other aspect of ancient numismatics. A rather erudite previous owner's marginalia, probably dating to the middle of the 17th Century, is found throughout the book. With nearly 1300 magnificent woodcuts of Greek and Roman coins, including many from the colonies, and particularly from Hispania. Minor worm holes to rear board into the last few pages of the index; original vellum binding, a few leaves browned due to original paper stock.
