BEAULIEU, Mme Malles de Le Robinson de Douze Ans... Paris, E. Ducrocq, 1850
Octavo, with eight chromolithographs (including frontispiece); a fine copy in the original black grained cloth, spine ornately gilt, all edges gilt.
A good example of one of the later Robinsonades. First published around the same time as the now more famous Swiss Family Robinson tales by Wyss, Beaulieu's novel adaptation was equally popular in the nineteenth century. It is one of the best examples of the reworking of Defoe's original premise for the moral education of children.
Gumuchian, 4949.
