Second edition of the 'edition seconda' - the first appeared a year earlier and the first edition in 1525 - of Bembo's seminal work, a milestone in the development of the Italian language in which Bembo defended the Tuscan vernacular as a literary language and in which the groundwork of Italian grammar was laid. A few later sixteenth century marginalia at the beginning.
