AMASEO, Romulo. Oratio habita in funere Pauli.III, (Bologna, in officina Ioannis Rubei, 1563)
4to. 50ff. (including the final errata leaf). In modern boards.
FIRST EDITION of Amaseo's funeral oration of Paul III delivered in 1549 and now printed as an act of filial piety as Romulo's son, Pompilio, informs us in his dedication to Cardinal Alessandro Farnese, having spent many years gathering up all of his father's unedited works for eventual publication. In the dedication he also thanks all of his father's old friends who had helped him in this undertaking and assures the reader that more will be printed in the forthcoming years. Romulo Amaseo (1489-1552), Bolognese man of letters and friend of Bembo, latterly worked intermittently for the Papacy in a secretarial capacity. His funeral was paid for by Julius III.
