FIRST of six sixteenth century editions of Goselini’s poetry, considered by Caro to be so fine that he wished more of it had been written. The author (1525-1589), a historian and poet from Nice (then in Monferrato) was, for a long time, secretary to Ferrante Gonzaga, Duke of Sessa, and published his biography in 1579 – another four editions appeared in the sixteenth century.
