Large 8vo. 128ff. Woodcut royal arms on title-page, one woodcut and 3 typographical headpieces and a few woodcut initials, light discolouration and occasional spotting, in contemporary limp vellum, author’s name and title inked on spine.

FIRST EDITION of the first of Boutrays’ poems on French cities. Orléans (Aurelia) appeared in 1615 and Châteaudun (Castellodunum) in 1627. The author (c.1552-1630) was a historian from Châteaudun and appears only to have written on French history, mostly of his own time. Knobelsdorf’s verse description of Paris appears here for the second time.Graesse I, p.504.
