FIRST EDITION of this unillustrated description of the devices of a hundred and four Sienese knights in the service of Ferdinand of Tuscany’s army. The list naturally includes the cream of Sienese society listing members of the families of, inter alios, Bulgarini, Piccolomini, Chigi, Petrucci and Tolomei. The author (1540-1612) was one of three distinguished brothers and was the author of several works on Sienese courtly entertainments, a subject also covered by his brother Girolamo.
