4to. 3 works (or parts) in one vol. 62 + 18 (including the final blank) + 8ff. Woodcut arms of Gregory XV on title-page of first work, his woodcut seal in the text and 6 examples of ballot papers, woodcut arms of Urban VIII opn title-page of second work, his woodcut seal and 4 examples of ballot papers, woodcut papal insignia on title-page of third work, in contemporary vellum.

Perhaps the second edition of this complete description of the ceremony to be observed for papal elections from earliest times to the papacy of Gregory XV. 'The bull Aeterni Patris of Gregory XV. (15th of November 1621) is a collection of minute regulations. In it is the rule compelling each cardinal, before giving his vote, to take the oath that he will elect him whom he shall judge to be the most worthy; it also makes rules for the forms of voting and of the voting papers, for the counting, the scrutiny, and in fact all the processes of the election. A second bull, Decet Romanum Pontificem, of the 12th of March 1622, fixed the ceremonial of the conclave with such minuteness that it has not been changed since', Encyclopaedia Britannica. Both bulls are present in the first work; but of equal interest are the woodcut specimens of the ballot papers in the first and second works.
