Octavo, contemporary faded purple paper boards, spine and hinges worn, leaves entirely uncut, some browning, ink stain in the lower margin of two leaves, 6ff + 114pp + (1) + 558pp + 17ff index and errata, title page printed in red and black, decorated woodcut ornaments at Sura openings and woodcut devices at Sura endings.

First edition of this printing of the Qur'an in Leipzig. The notes are by the oriental scholar Ludovico Marracci who edited the Padua printing of the Qur'an in 1698. He was professor in the College della Sapienza in Rome. The introductory chapters on the history of the Qur'an and the life of Mohammed is by Christianus Reineccius
