BOAG & RIVETT FAMILIES 1836+ ORIGINAL ARCHIVE OF HANDWRITTEN MANUSCRIPT DOCUMENTS, LETTERS AND EPHEMERA OF EARLY NEWFOUNDLAND FAMILY NEWFOUNDLAND LABRADOR BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS 1836
4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall Manuscript On offer is an original archive of handwritten letters and documents relating to the Boag family who were among the early settlers of St. John's, Newfoundland. Included are several paper certificates and items connected with the Boag and Rivett families [Rivett family appears to have been the Boston, Massachusetts branch], with the centerpiece being an original manuscript letter written in 1836 to St. John's, Newfoundland. The stampless folded letter is addressed to Mrs. James Boag, St. John's, Newfoundland. Other items include: a marriage certificate dated Sept 2 1896 for Edward Rivett and Mary F. Boag, married at Brighton District, Boston, Massachusetts; a birth certificate from the Registry Department of the City of Boston, dated Jan 16, 1919 that acknowledges a date of birth of Nov 19, 1899 for Phylis Rivett, with the father being Edward Boag and the mother being Florence Boag, both of Canada. Then there is a 24-page booklet celebrating the marriage of Samuel Runyan Norton and Genevieve Elizabeth Boag on Sept 1, 1906. The vows are printed in and the names of the couple were written in, and in the back is a certificate that's signed by the couple and by the pastor or curate, at the Parish of the Church of the Transfiguration in the Diocese and City of New York. The cover appears to be missing from this booklet. Then there is a blue paper that's really old with creases that has been somewhat repaired on the back side that is some kind of certificate signed on April 26, 1869 in the District of Montreal, Province of Lower Canada. Then there is a small card with the name of Phyllis Frances Rivett, acknowledging her baptism, and the card seems to have been filled out in 1950. Boag names are on this card. Another baptism certificate is dated Sept 1 1906 for Samuel Runyan Norton, with the names Genevieve Elizabeth Boag and Florence M. Rivett on it. And lastly, there is a large sheet that is written in Latin, appearing to be a marriage acknowledgment, dated April 28, 1896, with Boag names on it, connected with the Roman Catholic Cathedral in St. John's, Newfoundland. On the back side is a postmark for the US Pension Office with a date of Nov 30 1896. This paper is splitting at the creases and was taped on the backside a long time ago. G+. Good+
