GREAT EXHIBITION OF 1851 The Illustrated London News. Deutsch. Deutsches Supplement, No.1. (-No.8.) London, ILN, May 3 - June 21 1851.
Small folio. 8 items continuously paginated. 128pp, many illustrations throughout. Cloth. The ILN published the best and most dramatic descriptions and illustrations of the Great Exhibition of 1851, both of the building and of the myriad displays within it. However, in order to cater for the thousands of visitors from abroad, who flocked to London during that summer, the periodical also issued illustrated foreign-language supplements. The present German supplements, besides their comprehensive coverage of the exhibition, also include a series of itineraries, headed "Deutsche Pilger in London", for the tourist who wanted to see something other than the Crystal Palace.
