Contemporary blind-stamped pigskin over wooden boards (rubbed, darkened, stained, edges and corners with leather defects), two spine labels, 2 original clasps (1 defective). Still early edition of this important history of reformation (first edition: 1555). The well preserved binding is decorated on both boards with a plate containing a non-identified figure and a text ("I REGVM / XVI. CAP.") in a cartouche surrounded by a roll with Spes, Caritas and Fides. Front fly-leaf and end-paper with ownership and donation entries one of them extensive, dated ("1611") and referring to a priest Christopher Christen). Title with entry as well. Front joint cracked. Slightly browned throughout, in places small brown-stains, first gatherings with water-marking to outer edges. Some manuscript annotations and under-linings. V. d.
