Sm.-8vo. 951 pp., (73) pp. 17th century vellum (browned, a little stained) with handwritten title on spine. Lacking ties. Sleidanus'(1506 - 1556) edition contains translated parts of Froissard's (c. 1337 - c. 1410) "Chroniques", the most important French history of the Hundred Years' War (in the original French it had appeared in 1495 at Verard in Paris)and parts of the "Mémoires" (first edition in French: 1524 and 1528 respectively) by Philippes Commynes (before 1447 - 1511) dealing with the period between 1464 - 1498 and representing one of the first example of modern French historiography. Sleidanus' "Illustratio rerum et Galliae descriptio" follows the first part of the "Memoires" as a supplement. Front end-paper with ex-libris. Front fly-leaf with tear (restored) and worm-holes to joint, otherwise slightly stained (fore-edges as well). VD 16, C 4639 und F 3103; v. d.
