AN IMPORTANT WORK. FINE COPIES ARE VERY SCARCE IN FIRST EDITION FORMAT. Amundsen's account of the first successful negotiation of a Northwest Passage. By a curious coincidence, the Gjša sailed through the passage on the 300th anniversary of Hudson's first voyage in its search.
In the intervening years, many men had sought to discover the elusive sea passage that would link the Atlantic and the Pacific through the north. Franklin was the first to actually discover the route, but unfortunately, he and all the members of the crew died mysteriously on the expedition. It was not till twelve years later that the world knew of his success. Amundsen's voyage was very much a success; he not only negotiated the pass, but help to fix the most recent position of magnetic north hand brig back valuable ethnographic information of the residents of the Arctic regions.
